According to a breaking news story from Television Continental and Sahara Reporters, former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu has passed on. The politician reportedly died at his Ibadan residence in Oyo State this evening Friday September 13th. He was 65 years old. May his soul rest in peace...amen. 

Another crisis is brewing in Rivers State. Early this evening, the convoy of the governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi was prevented from using one of the two entrances to the Government House in Port Harcourt by a team of police. The governor's convoy was stopped by four truck loads of policemen as it made its way through the private gate of the governor's official residence. The policemen, led by several senior officers, claimed they were acting on orders from above. After about 45 minutes of arguing, which included Governor Amaechi himself coming down from his car to speak with the policemen, the governor's convoy had not choice but to leave and take another road to access the main entrance into the Government House. The Federal Government has reacted to the news that they ordered 53 gold gold-plated iPhone 5S for N682million. The report went viral after the CEO of Gold and Co., UK, Amjad Ali, told UK newspaper, The Independent, that our government ordered these phones from his firm as part of the memorabilia for the nation’s 53rd Independence anniversary on October 1, 2013.   Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, who was among the nine ministers relieved of their positions by President Goodluck Jonathan in a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, says she will be going back to the university to teach. She, who handed over the affairs of the education ministry to the Minister of State in the ministry, Chief Nyesom Wike, as directed by the president, told newsmen that she would be going back to continue with her job as a teacher. Before her appointment as a minister, Rufa’i was a professor of Curriculum Studies at the Bayero University, Kano.

President Goodluck has  deployed some Ministers who survived today’s cabinet shake-up to oversee the activities of the ministries which lost their ministers Wednesday, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has said.

President Jonathan today September 11th honoured Africa's fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare. The Olympic and world Athletics Championship medalist was rewarded for her impressive performance at the recently concluded 2013 World Athletic Championship in Moscow. Blessing won the silver medal in the long jump and also placed third in the Women’s 200m race. President Jonathan said Blessing, who is Africa's 100m record holder, and her coach would be considered for national honours and announced a cash gift of N3 million for her and N3.5million for her coach.

Minister of State for Agriculture - Buka Jinani. Minister for National Planning - Shamsudeen Usman,  Minister for Science&Technology - Ita Okon. Minister of Foreign Affairs - Olugbenga Ashiru. Minister for Lands - Ama Pepple, Minister for Environment - Hadiza Mailafia and Minister of State for Defence -Erelu Olusola Obada.  The president is trying to reshuffle his cabinet, we promise to keep you updated .

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has removed Yinka Gbadebo as its leader, replacing him with its Vice-President, Jubril Ahmed. In a statement, NANS Senate President Emaluyi Sunday Michael said Gbadebo was impeached at a meeting of stakeholders on September 7 under Section 49(1) of the constitution.  That provision states: “The president can be impeached on the grounds of incompetence or as therefore by his attitude or action which can be classified/regarded as misconduct”.

The Olu of Warri , Ogiame Atuwatse II, has finally bowed to his people who insisted that he could not renounce his “Ogiame” traditional title because of his Christian faith. The entire Itsekiri nation, represented by thousands of men, women and youths this morning marched through the streets adjoining his palace in Warri in protest against the monarch’s decision to renounce his “Ogiame” traditional title.

There have been protests and serious tension in Warri, Delta state for some days now after the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase II, announced the abolition of some of the ancient Itshekiri cultural practices. The Olu of Warri who is a born again Christian with a Foursquare Worship Centre in his palace, had last Wednesday September 4th declared in a document titled, “The New Order of Iwere Kingdom,” that the “Ogiame” title which had been in existence for over 500 years would no longer exist because it is purportedly associated to a river goddess. The Borno State government is planning to demolish at least 20 churches and christian schools in Maiduguri after acquiring land they say they want to use for a 1000-unit housing estate. Demolition notice has been served to the present occupants of the acquired land, which includes owners of farmlands and several churches and schools built by churches. The state government have already dispatched a notice to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN)

A native doctor identified as Fidelis Chukwujindu has been arrested by the Nigeria police for luring over 5,000 students and extorting money from them as well as conducting fake entrance examination for the unsuspecting student victims. Chukwujindu, was arrested at the premises of his non-existent College Hospital which has the sign post “University College Hospital Ogboko, Ideato, P.O.Box 1960, Orlu, in Imo State.
