A 14-year-old Senior Secondary School SS1 pupil Oluwaseyi Adelegan who was  the son of the National President of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, Comrade Solomon Adelegan has been murdered in cold blood  by yet to be identified killers. Oluwaseyi was said to have been murdered  at his father’s residence in Aduralere quarters, Ijoka areas of Akure in the early hour on Thursday. Report had it that the deceased was  matcheted when the killers invaded their residence and was left to die by his killers. Saturday Vanguard learnt that the deceased on the ill-fated day was alone in the house while other siblings have all gone for holiday lesson.

Ania Lisewska, a Polish woman, has reportedly vowed to travel to every city across the world in a bizarre quest to sleep with 100,000 men.  She embarked on the unusual mission in her home city last month and has so far added 284 notches to her bedpost. Our sources in the state and within law enforcement disclosed that the fraudster obtained various sums of money running into millions of naira from state officials who were desperate to receive favorable coverage about the state beset by rising insecurity and incessant kidnappings.

A blind man, Shaibu Ibrahim, 26, on Tuesday dragged Shehu Sarki, another blind man to a Grade 1 Area Court, Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa State. News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ibrahim accused Sarki, 32, his friend and the chairman of the blind peoples’ association of the area of allegedly enticing his wife, Lami Ibrahim, 23. He said,

Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’I, said on Thursday in Abuja that French language would be part of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination as from 2014 for interested candidates, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. Rufa’I said this at  a reception held in honour of the French Language Project Manager, Mr. Jean-Phillipe Roy. She said that being multi-lingual in the 21st Century was essential as it helps individuals to operate more effectively in the international community.

ASUU UPDATE: NLC to resolve ASUU/FG face-off THE Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) yesterday said it will ask the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resume negotiation with the Federal Government for the resolution of their differences. NLC President, comrade Abdulwahed Omar, spoke after the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja. He said there were reports that the union had issued a statement to withdraw from the negotiations with the Federal Government.

A 19 year old female student of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) Department of Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY) has been arrested for allegedly pouring hot water on her boyfriend shortly after his birthday at Miracle Hall, BHS area in Iree last Saturday. According to a report by Daily Trust, the attacker Yetunde poured the hot water on Niyi Adelana (pictured above) because he invited other girls to his party and flirted with them right in front of her Niyi, a Higher National Diploma (HND) II student of Computer Science, suffered serious burns and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State, DSP Folasade Odoro, confirmed the incident in a chat with Daily Trust. She said investigation was still going on and that upon completion, the girl would be charged to court.

Some suspected hired killers attacked the Managing Director, Young Shall Grow Motors Limited, Chief Vincent Obianodo, killing his driver and police escort. naijadstv.blogspot.com learnt that the culprits also shot Obianodo in the hand during the attack. Police authorities said the incident occurred in FESTAC area of Lagos State on Tuesday night while Obianodo was returning from work.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday confirmed that his decision to sack his erstwhile Minister of Youth Development, Inuwa Abdulkadir, was based on the latter’s mishandling of the National Youth Council of Nigeria’s elections in Makurdi and Minna which resulted in the factionalisation of the council. The Taraba State Governor, Mr. Danbaba Suntai, finally addressed the people on Wednesday , exactly  four days after  his return from a 10-month medical sojourn abroad. The brief address was however not live but through a video shown on the state-owned television station in Jalingo. His failure to do so earlier  and appear before the state House Assembly to formally intimate its  members of his desire to resume work had created suspicions that he was incapable of continuing to function as the state governor. The Lagos State Government has announced the termination of its concession agreement with the Lekki Concession Company. Find a press statement from the State Govt below.. The Lagos State Government wishes to state clearly that it has neither terminated nor cancelled the Concession Agreement it entered into with the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) to reconstruct and expand the 49.36 km Eti-Osa Lekki-Epe Expressway. To set the records straight, Lagos State Government is engaged in buying back the rights pertaining to the concession ahead of the 30-year period stipulated in the Design, Build, Operate and Transfer (DBOT) Concession Agreement. This is to be achieved by purchasing all the shares in LCC.

By 12.20pm, I had concluded interviews with Adamson’s widow and mother of his 7 children, Modinatu Bello; three residents, and the Baale of the area. I decided to also speak with a representative of a hotel which was named in my findings - South Bound Hotel. The killer cop was said to be on guard duty at the hotel. On the way to the hotel, I decided to take the pictures of some points where the incident happened. I took the picture of the hotel, and decided to speak with another resident. Madonna’s MDNA world tour made $305m (£196m) last year. Pop star Madonna was the world’s top-earning celebrity over the past year, trumping the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg. The 55-year-old Material Girl made an estimated $125m (£80m) thanks to her MDNA tour, clothing and fragrance lines, according to Forbes. Doctors at the Bungoma District Hospital, in Kakamega County, Kenya could not believe their eyes when a 14 year-old girl delivered triplets. Mwanarahab Wamukoya from Harambee market in Kakamega County was admitted at the delivery room on Saturday night only for her to give birth to her three first born children, all of them boys at the wee hours of Sunday morning. “We thank God that she successfully delivered the bouncing triplets. Though the young ones are in good health, their mother is still very weak,” said a nurse at the Bungoma District Hospital.
